Amazon Trains AI Models on Twitch Livestreams Without User Consent
Twitch, owned by Amazon, has confirmed that it is training its AI models on Twitch livestreams. The platform announced this development on Wednesday, stating that users can opt out of this feature to prevent their content from being used for model training.
On a livestream explaining the changes, Mary Kish, Twitch's head of community, acknowledged that users would likely be unhappy with this decision. She said, 'We don't expect you to be happy or excited about this,' adding that she didn't expect anyone to react favorably.
The live chat on the livestream was filled with anti-AI messages from hundreds of users. High-profile Twitch streamers also took to X to criticize Amazon's decision and the opt-out feature, which automatically includes all users unless they explicitly choose to opt out.
