Amazon Unveils Expanded Drone Delivery Plans
Amazon is expanding its drone delivery service, Prime Air, to nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of the year. Currently, fewer than 100 cities receive this service. The company claims that more than 60% of items ordered by customers fit into the category of being 5 pounds or less and able to be delivered in a large shoebox.
Orders can arrive as fast as 30 minutes after purchase, with most arriving within 60 minutes. Prime members will have free access to the service on orders over $50, while those without a Prime membership will pay $4.99 for delivery. Orders under $50 will cost $2.99.
