Amazon's $400M Loveland Distribution Center Fires Up
Amazon's massive distribution center in Loveland, Colorado has begun processing packages this summer, with thousands of robots and 30 miles of conveyor belts helping to sort millions of shipments per week.
The facility, which is roughly the size of 60 football fields, employs a crew of over 1,100 workers and is expected to reach full capacity by the holiday shopping season. Eric Ng, the general manager of the Loveland warehouse, compared entering an Amazon facility to 'walking into Hogwarts,' describing it as 'where the magic begins.'
Amazon's willingness to invest in the project has been praised by local officials, with Rep. Lauren Boebert saying that the company 'put real money on the table' and saw an opportunity in Loveland. The distribution center was originally scheduled to open in 2025 but construction costs were estimated at $400 million.
As capacity ramps up, Amazon expects to hire hundreds more workers at the facility near the Northern Colorado Regional Airport.
