Amazon's Anthropic Stake Could Be Worth Almost $400 Billion in a $2 Trillion IPO
Anthropic's impending IPO has Amazon Web Services (AWS) investors taking notice. As one of Anthropic's most significant backers, AWS has a $13 billion stake in the AI startup and may commit another $20 billion contingent on meeting commercial milestones.
In September 2023, AWS partnered with Anthropic to become its primary platform for training and serving its generative model, Claude. This deal also included a $1.25 billion investment from Amazon into Anthropic as part of a broader $4 billion commitment.
By March 2025, Anthropic's valuation had climbed to $183 billion before reaching $380 billion following a Series G funding round in the same year.
A successful listing at an estimated $2 trillion would see Amazon's ownership stake valued at nearly $400 billion, or roughly 19.7% of the company's total value.
