Amazon's Budget Denim Line Proves Surprisingly Resilient
Amazon's foray into denim has been a surprise hit, with its in-house apparel brand Amazon Essentials offering affordable and functional workwear pieces. Tim Kohut put the brand to the test by reviewing two of its key items: the Rigid Relaxed-Fit Workwear Carpenter Jeans and the Low Stretch Regular-Fit Denim Jacket.
The $25 carpenter jeans were initially stiff, but after several washes, they became more comfortable and flexible. Kohut noted that sizing up was a good idea, as he had initially chosen to go with his usual size. The deep pockets on the pants proved to be a pleasant surprise, allowing for storage of small accessories.
The $40 denim jacket was a different story altogether. Kohut praised its comfort and versatility, noting that it was surprisingly easy to wear off the rack. The jacket's design featured buttoned chest-flap pockets, angled welt pockets, and hidden compartments in the lining, making it an excellent choice for workwear.
Kohut revisited his review after almost a year of testing and found that both pieces had held up well. The jeans showed minimal fading, while the jacket remained comfortable and functional. While not perfect, Amazon's Essentials brand has proven to be a viable option for those looking for affordable workwear without sacrificing quality.
