Amazon's Prime Video Invests $2 Billion in Latin America for Original Content and Sports
Prime Video plans to invest over $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030, focusing on original programming and live sports across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. The investment aims to more than double the number of Local Originals produced in these five countries compared to 2026.
Prime Video revealed its most ambitious slate yet, over 25 new titles in 2027 alone, spanning scripted series, films, unscripted, and reality formats. Titles include La Oficina Season 2, Florence Cassez, Tremembé Season 2, biopic Marília, Menem Season 2, Te Odio, Te Amo, Rojo Corazón, Catedrales, and Valentina.
Live sports on Prime Video in Latin America have seen unprecedented growth. In 2026, over 20 million households tuned in to watch sports on the platform, exceeding last year's total. The addition of the NBA, Copa do Brasil streaming hours more than doubling since launch, and Série A making Prime Video a single home for domestic soccer are contributing factors.
Prime Video will also become a new home for the Mexico National Team, delivering 38 home matches over four years beginning September 26. The company plans to expand its services in six new territories, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Peru, where customers can sign up for third-party streaming subscriptions directly through the Prime Video app.
