AMD and Cisco Unveil Middle East's Largest AI Compute Platform
Chipmaker AMD has expanded its presence in the Middle East through a partnership with networking equipment leader Cisco and Saudi Arabian AI company HUMAIN. The three parties have launched large-scale AI compute infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, utilizing AMD's Instinct MI355X GPUs and EPYC CPUs, along with Cisco's Silicon One networking architecture.
The platform offers end-to-end services from model training to inference through a 'GPU-as-a-Service' (GPUaaS) model. HUMAIN is backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.
The initial compute capacity is available to customers in the region, with plans for expansion reaching up to 1 gigawatt (GW) by 2030. The next phase of expansion will commence in 2027, incorporating AMD's next-generation Instinct MI400 series GPUs and EPYC CPUs.
