AMD Expands AI Footprint in Saudi Arabia with New Joint Venture
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has expanded its AI infrastructure footprint in Saudi Arabia through a new platform that leverages AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and EPYC CPUs. The joint venture with Cisco Systems Inc. and HUMAIN brings AI-as-a-service to the region, allowing for workloads ranging from model training to inference.
Cisco supplies the networking infrastructure, including its Silicon One technology, N9000 Series platform, and 800G optics. AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su said this marks an important milestone in the company's work with HUMAIN and establishes a high-performance platform designed for expansion over time.
The companies plan to deploy up to 250 MW of additional AI infrastructure by 2027, as part of their previously announced joint venture targeting 1 GW of capacity by 2030. The sovereign demand for AI infrastructure continues to grow, with HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin noting the importance of locally operated infrastructure and data control.
AMD shares were trading at $466.04 in premarket hours on Monday, having been upgraded to Strong Buy by Raymond James earlier this month, with a target price of $641.00.
