American Airlines Ditches Premium First Class on Certain Flights
American Airlines is eliminating its 'premium' first class on certain flights. The Boeing 777-300ER first class will be cut for flights as of November 19, 2026, while the Airbus A321T first class will be eliminated by March 28, 2027.
The decision comes after American unveiled new business class seats in 2022, which have since entered service. The airline has been reconfiguring its Boeing 777-300ERs with the new business class seats, removing the first class section in the process.
American's Airbus A321Ts will be replaced by A321XLRs on premium transcontinental routes, which do not feature a first class cabin. The physical first class seats are expected to be removed from planes by late 2027.
