American Airlines Ditches Premium First Class to Focus on Business

American Airlines is ending its premium first-class ticket sales in November and March of 2027. The airline will discontinue its Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A321T first-class products, replacing them with newly reconfigured business-class cabins.

The move marks the end of an era for American Airlines' traditional first-class product, which was introduced during the merger between AA and US Airways in 2015. However, the airline's premium first class has been described as 'incredibly mediocre.'

On certain long-haul flights, American Airlines offers a higher cabin called premium first class, while on domestic flights, the front cabin is marketed as first class but lacks a separate business-class section.

The airline will treat the remaining first-class cabins as part of its business-class product and reconfigure planes to eliminate the first-class seats. It remains unclear how these first-class seats will be assigned to business-class passengers.
