American Airlines Unveils Upgraded Boeing 777-300ER with Flagship Suites
American Airlines has unveiled its first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to feature the airline's new Flagship Suites cabin. The upgraded plane made its inaugural flight from New York's JFK Airport to Buenos Aires on September 2, marking a significant upgrade in premium travel options for passengers.
The Flagship Suites have replaced eight first-class seats and 52 previous-generation business-class seats with 70 new suites. The number of Premium Economy seats has also increased from 28 to 44, providing more space for travelers who opt for this tier.
American Airlines plans to refit 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with the Flagship Suites cabin, which will operate on long-haul flights from the US to destinations like Tokyo, São Paulo, and Sydney. This upgrade is part of the airline's ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet and enhance the passenger experience.
Bookings for seats in the former first class will end on November 19, 2026, as passengers are encouraged to take advantage of the new Flagship Suites. The expansion of the A321XLR fleet led to the discontinuation of first-class service on transcontinental flights within the US on March 28, 2026.
