American Express Axes Two Key Features for Indian Cardholders

American Express is making changes to its card benefits in India, affecting two key features.

The company will discontinue its 'Check Your Spending Power' feature from September 16. This tool allowed cardholders to check whether a planned purchase would be approved through their online account. However, the discontinuation of this service will not affect how card transactions are authorized, and customers can continue using their cards as usual.

American Express is also ending its Emergency Card Replacement service from October 8. This service provided expedited delivery of a replacement card in emergency situations, but after the change, customers will still be able to access standard card replacement services. The company estimates that this process takes around 7-10 business days.

The changes are part of a series of revisions to American Express card features in India. The company is also set to discontinue its Reward Multiplier programme from September 30, and the milestone rewards and domestic airport lounge access on its Platinum Travel Credit Card will undergo changes starting from September 10.
