For the fourteenth consecutive year, American Express is directing up to $2 million in grants to Australian small businesses through its Shop Small Grants Program. The program, delivered in partnership with Mainstreet Australia, will provide an initial $1 million to fund 50 grants of $20,000 each for eligible small businesses across the country.

Applications are open until September 6, 2026, via mainstreetaustralia.org.au/amexshopsmallgrantsprogram. American Express will then contribute an additional $1 for every eligible transaction made using an eligible American Express Card at participating Shop Small businesses between August 1 and 7, up to a further $1 million.

This second tranche could fund up to 50 additional grants, bringing the total to as many as 100 small businesses supported. According to Corrina Davison, Managing Director of American Express Australia, 'This year, together with our Card Members and participating businesses, we're aiming to provide up to $2 million in Shop Small Grant funding.'
