American Express Boosts Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards with New Benefits
American Express has updated its Delta SkyMiles credit cards to include two free checked bags and increased welcome offers, making them more attractive to frequent flyers.
The changes apply to the Delta SkyMiles Gold, Delta SkyMiles Platinum, and Delta SkyMiles Reserve credit cards. The second-checked-bag benefit alone could be worth $200 per round-trip flight per cardmember, potentially offsetting the annual fee after just a trip or two.
The new benefits also include up to $120 in rideshare credits annually for select providers, matching the offers on more premium Delta credit cards. In addition, some cards now offer increased welcome bonuses, such as 80,000 bonus miles and a $250 statement credit with the Delta SkyMiles Gold card.
The value of rewards depends on how they're used, but at a minimum, Delta credit card holders can redeem their points for flights using Delta's Pay With Miles feature. Booking award flights can yield better results, such as an incredible 9.1 cents per Delta SkyMile.
