American Express Expands Blockchain-Based Travel Stamps Program
As international travel becomes increasingly digital, American Express is expanding its blockchain-based digital travel stamps program, Amex Passport. The company launched the initiative last year after finding that 73% of adults wanted additional ways to digitally commemorate their international travels.
The program uses blockchain technology to create and track collectible travel stamps based on customers' card activity. It has grown into one of the largest nonfungible token collections on Base, a blockchain network.
Customers can access the digital stamps through the American Express mobile app, allowing them to preserve memories of their trips abroad. The expansion of Amex Passport now allows cardholders to generate digital stamps for qualifying trips dating back to 2019.
