American Express Reports Record U.S. Card Balances

American Express reported that its U.S. Consumer and Small Business card balances held for investment reached $160.3 billion at August 31, 2026.

The company's credit performance statistics showed that U.S. Consumer cards had total balances of $114.2 billion at August 31, 2026, with a 30-day-plus delinquency rate of 1.1% for each of the three months ended June 30, July 31, and August 31.

For U.S. Small Business cards, total balances were $46.1 billion at August 31, 2026, with a 30-day-plus delinquency rate of 1.3% in August and July, and 1.4% in June.
