American Tower Sees Four Growth Catalysts Driving Wireless Demand
American Tower's Chief Executive Steven Vondran spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026, outlining the company's growth catalysts. He mentioned four major drivers: 5G densification, 6G deployment, new spectrum additions, and AI-driven traffic needs.
The company expects a normalized organic tenant billings growth of about 4.5% in 2026, excluding Dish churn, with new leases and amendments contributing around 2.5%. This is consistent with historical patterns and reflects the normal leasing environment.
American Tower is targeting an additional 200 to 300 basis points of margin expansion over several years, building on about 300 basis points of improvement in recent years. The company's financial performance supports these ambitions, with revenue growing 6.65% over the last twelve months to reach $10.9 billion.
The company is prioritizing capital allocation, starting with dividend payments, followed by internal investment, acquisitions, share repurchases, and deleveraging depending on returns. American Tower has deployed about $600 million into share buybacks over the past several months through early 2024.
