American Unveils Retrofitted Boeing 777 with Enhanced Premium Cabins
American Airlines has unveiled its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring an upgraded premium cabin. The plane boasts 70 Flagship Suite business-class seats and 44 Premium Economy seats, a significant increase from the previous configuration. Each lie-flat seat includes a privacy door, Bang & Olufsen noise-canceling headphones, and adjustable vanity mirror.
The Flagship Suite Preferred seats offer up to 19% more bed space and 42% more area compared to regular suites. The Premium Economy seats feature privacy headrest wings, wireless charging pads, and adjustable calf and footrests. American is retrofitting its entire fleet of 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft by the end of 2027.
The first retrofitted plane will launch on September 2 on flights between New York-JFK and Buenos Aires, before moving to the New York JFK-London Heathrow route for the rest of the month. American plans to have the remaining aircraft completed by the end of 2027.
