Amerijet 767 Grounded After Hard Landing in Guatemala
An Amerijet International Boeing 767-300 freighter suffered substantial structural damage after making a hard landing at Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport on September 6.
The aircraft, registered N373CM, was operating flight M68743 from Miami to San Juan when it diverted to Guatemala City. According to information published by aviation safety sources, the Boeing 767 landed on Runway 02 at around 23:30 local time on September 6 and touched down hard, making initial contact with the nose landing gear.
A post-flight inspection revealed significant structural damage to the fuselage. Amerijet's maintenance monitoring system lists N373CM as AOG (Aircraft on Ground) at Guatemala City, with the damage described as 'Buckle Damage, Top Fuselage, STA 650 S14L to S14R.'
N373CM remains grounded at GUA while Amerijet and Boeing determine the required repairs. The aircraft is currently listed as 'Enroute AOG' at GUA, with its eventual return to service still to be determined.
