Amex Cancels Reward Multiplier Programme in India
American Express has announced that it will discontinue its six-year-old Reward Multiplier programme in India, effective October 1, 2026. The move will directly impact Platinum, Gold, and Membership Rewards cardholders who have relied on the feature to earn bonus points on select brands.
The programme allowed cardholders to earn up to 5X points on purchases made through a merchant's website or app after clicking through from the Amex portal. Participating brands included Apple, Nykaa, Myntra, and MakeMyTrip hotel bookings.
Cardholders have until September 29, 2026, to maximise their earnings under the current terms. After that date, they can continue to earn points at standard rates through ShopWise, an e-voucher platform with over 200 participating brands.
