American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has introduced an AI-powered connector that allows corporate travelers to book flights and hotels directly within Anthropic's Claude chat assistant. The Egencia connector, available in Q3 2026 to select customers, utilizes the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standardized interface between AI agents and external services.

The connector enables end-to-end transaction completion for air and hotel bookings, providing a seamless experience for corporate travelers. Amex GBT's chief product and strategy officer, Evan Konwiser, describes this capability as 'true agent-to-agent integration for managed travel.'

However, it's essential to note that the Egencia connector is only available to customers on the Egencia platform, not Neo or Complete users. Travel managers should verify their company's managed travel program and account settings before using this feature.
