Amex GBT Study Predicts Modest Car Rental Price Increases
A recent study by American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) forecasts that car rental prices will remain mostly stable over the next year. However, business travelers may face significantly higher costs in some markets.
The Ground Monitor 2026-2027 report expects modest increases across most major markets due to improved vehicle supply and balanced demand. The biggest European increase is forecasted in the Netherlands, where rental rates are expected to rise between 4% and 5% due to changes in motor vehicle taxes.
In contrast, France and Spain are predicted to see virtually flat rates, rising between 0% and 0.5%. The UK is expected to record increases of 0.6% to 1.3%, while Germany is forecast at 1% to 2%. Scandinavia is projected at 1% to 2.5%.
In North America, both the US and Canada are predicted to see rental prices rise between 1.5% and 2%. Brazil and Chile are forecast at 2% to 4%, while Australia is expected to see relatively steep increases of 3% to 3.4%.
