Amex Rolls Out Accor Gold Status Excluding US
American Express has rolled out Accor Gold status to its Platinum cardholders in 12 countries, excluding the U.S. despite it being Amex's largest market.
The benefits of Accor Gold include free Wi-Fi and room upgrades, among others, which are now automatically available for Platinum cardholders in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, UK, New Zealand, and Austria.
This move is a result of Amex's regional partnerships with Accor, allowing its customers to enjoy exclusive perks. However, the U.S., mainland China, India, and Brazil remain excluded from this rollout due to Accor's limited property count in these regions.
The exclusion of the U.S. market has raised questions about the cost-effectiveness of granting Accor Gold status to millions of American cardholders who rarely stay at its hotels.
