AMEX Skips America in Accor Partnership Deal

AMEX has partnered with ALL Accor to give Platinum cardholders Gold status in 12 countries, but unfortunately not in the United States. This partnership includes elite status matching and a new Membership Rewards transfer option into ALL Accor.

The included markets are Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. The US is notably absent from this list, as well as mainland China, India, and Brazil.

US Platinum holders will still receive Hilton Honors Gold and Marriott Bonvoy Gold status perks, but not Accor's Gold status. American Express says further country-specific details will be released throughout the year, leaving room for hope that the US market may be added in a second wave.
