Amgen Cloud Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Corporate and Patient Data
Amgen, a biotechnology giant based in California, has disclosed that an unauthorized third party accessed its cloud data environments. The incident was discovered earlier this month and led to emergency containment protocols being initiated.
The investigation confirmed that the unauthorized actor extracted proprietary corporate files and protected health information from the affected external servers.
Amgen stated in a Form 8-K filing with the SEC, 'The Company has since learned that some of its data, including proprietary data, patient protected health information, and other information, has been exfiltrated from these cloud environments.'
