Amgen Confirms Data Breach Involving Patient Information and Proprietary Company Data

Biotech giant Amgen has confirmed that patient information and proprietary company data was stolen from cloud systems operated by third-party providers.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Amgen said it detected unauthorized activity in July involving data stored in cloud environments hosted by external service providers.

The investigation found that attackers exfiltrated company information, including proprietary data, patients' protected health information, and other sensitive records.

Amgen added that there is no public indication of ransomware involvement and no cybercriminal group has claimed responsibility for the breach.
