Amgen Discloses Data Breach Involving Patient Health Information Theft
Pharmaceutical company Amgen has disclosed a data breach involving the theft of patient health information and company data. The incident occurred in cloud storage systems managed by third-party providers.
According to a regulatory filing, Amgen determined that the incident was material on July 29, based on its evaluation of how many files were affected and the possibility that the information in those files could be sensitive.
The company has activated its cybersecurity response plan and brought in independent forensic experts to investigate. Containment measures have also been put in place to prevent further unauthorized access.
