Amgen Expands Indian R&D Presence with New Science and Innovation Center
Pharmaceutical company Amgen is expanding its research and development capabilities in India by opening a new Science and Innovation Center at Genome Valley in Hyderabad. The center will join Amgen's global network of seven research laboratories, further enhancing the company's ability to develop innovative medicines for patients worldwide.
The new site reflects Amgen's focus on harnessing biology and technology to fight tough diseases. By integrating advanced scientific capabilities with data and digital innovation, Amgen aims to accelerate the discovery and development of medicines.
Amgen's executive vice president of Research and Development, Jay Bradner, M.D., said that the new center will expand the company's ability to integrate experimental science with data and technology. He added that it will enable Amgen to 'learn faster' and translate insights into innovative medicines for patients.
The Hyderabad site is expected to be operational in 2027 and will bring together scientists and technologists from various disciplines, working closely with Amgen's research sites around the world. The center will focus on discovery chemistry, drug metabolism & pharmacokinetics, and precision medicine.
