Amgen Expands Research Network with New Science & Innovation Center in Hyderabad
Amgen, a biotechnology company, is expanding its global research and development network by opening a new Science and Innovation Center in Genome Valley, Hyderabad. The center will join Amgen's existing seven research laboratories and serve as an extension of the company's U.S.-based R&D footprint.
The new facility will focus on integrating advanced scientific capabilities with data and digital innovation to accelerate the discovery and development of innovative medicines for patients worldwide. By combining experimental science with data and technology, Amgen aims to enhance its research capabilities and improve speed, precision, and efficiency in developing treatments.
Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon'ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana, said that Hyderabad has built a strong life sciences ecosystem with deep capabilities in pharmaceuticals and vaccines. He added that Amgen's decision to establish its Science and Innovation Center in Genome Valley reflects the city's growing role as a global hub for high-value research.
The center is expected to be operational by 2027 and will bring together scientists and technologists from various fields, including discovery chemistry, drug metabolism & pharmacokinetics, and precision medicine. This collaboration aims to enable closer integration of wet-laboratory science with innovative technology, advancing how Amgen develops medicines.
