Amgen Irish Open: LIV Golfers Struggle Amid Challenging Conditions
The Amgen Irish Open saw several high-profile golfers miss the cut after the first two rounds. Among them were LIV Golfers David Puig, Thomas Detry, Laurie Canter, and Thriston Lawrence.
Puig, who won his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2025 Australian BMW PGA Championship, shot identical scores of 71 in both rounds but missed the cut by one shot. Detry also made an albatross in the first round but couldn't capitalize on it and fell short by a single stroke.
Englishman Laurie Canter was looking to add to his DP World Tour victories at the 2024 European Open and the 2025 Bahrain Championship, but he didn't get past the cut line. Canter shot a four-over 74 in the first round and made a poor start on Friday with a bogey at the first hole.
Thriston Lawrence, who won the Omega European Masters just last week, couldn't take that form into the Amgen Irish Open. He shot rounds of 72 and 71 but missed the cut by one shot.
