Amgen Irish Open May Halt Play for Donald Trump's Weekend Arrival

The Amgen Irish Open golf tournament at Trump International Golf Links and Resort in Doonbeg may be paused on Saturday due to Donald Trump's expected arrival. The US president is scheduled to travel from Dublin, where he will meet with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and President Catherine Connelly, via the Marine One helicopter. This could coincide with the third round of play.

Tournament director Paul Gillmon admitted that a suspension of play was possible, stating 'It's a possibility that that could happen.' If Trump arrives during play, the disruption would be kept to an absolute minimum to avoid disrupting the players' progress.

Gillmon noted that there is precedent for this situation. During a recent LIV Golf event at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New York, play was halted when Trump's helicopter landed to pick him up.
