Amgen Sets Up Science and Innovation Centre in Hyderabad

Amgen, a leading US-based biotech company, plans to establish a Science and Innovation Centre in Genome Valley, Hyderabad. The new facility will bring together scientists and technologists from various fields, including discovery chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, as well as precision medicine.

The centre is expected to be operational by 2027 and will enable closer integration of wet-laboratory science with innovative technology, advancing how the company develops medicines. It will also contribute to Amgen's global research capabilities and complement its existing strong US-based research and development footprint.

Telangana government officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amgen in the presence of IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu. The proposed centre is expected to create employment opportunities for around 200 highly skilled professionals.

Amgen had previously opened its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad in February 2025. Telangana is emerging as a preferred destination for global life sciences companies due to its strong research capabilities, skilled workforce, and world-class infrastructure.
