Amgen Suffers Data Breach Involving Third-Party Cloud Environments
The biotechnology company Amgen has announced a data breach that occurred in July 2026. According to the company's official filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), unauthorized activity was detected involving data stored in third-party cloud environments.
The company states that some files have been extracted, including proprietary data and patient protected health information (PHI). Amgen notes that it took immediate action by activating its incident response plan and outsourcing the investigation to independent digital forensics experts.
The company has not identified any impact on its products, manufacturing operations, or financial reporting systems. However, it does acknowledge that other information sets, such as confidential business information, intellectual property, and research and development data, may have been accessed or exfiltrated.
