Amgen Surpasses Expectations in Strong Q2 Earnings Report
Amgen's second quarter results showed broad-based portfolio momentum, with the company exceeding market expectations in terms of revenue and adjusted earnings per share. Revenue rose by 9.5% year-over-year to $10.05 billion, surpassing analyst estimates of $9.40 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $6.29, a 12% beat over consensus estimates.
The company's full-year revenue guidance was increased to $38.8 billion at the midpoint, representing a 2.8% increase above analysts' expectations. Similarly, adjusted earnings per share guidance was raised to $22.90 at the midpoint, a 2.2% increase over previous estimates.
CEO Robert Bradway attributed Amgen's strong performance to the breadth and depth of its portfolio, highlighting double-digit growth in key products such as Repatha, EVENITY, and TEZSPIRE. Management emphasized the importance of continued investment in the company's late-stage pipeline and manufacturing capabilities.
