Amgen Surpasses Q2 Expectations with Revenue Growth
Amgen Inc reported its second-quarter 2026 results on August 4th, exceeding expectations across key financial metrics. The company's revenue reached $10.05 billion, a 9.5% year-over-year increase from the same period in 2025. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $4.37, marking a significant jump of 64.9% compared to the prior year.
The growth was driven by an uptick in product sales, which rose 9%, and other revenue streams that expanded by 27%. This contributed to an overall top-line expansion of about 10% for the quarter. However, U.S. and rest-of-world volumes saw a 9% and 8% increase respectively, albeit with net selling price declines and policy actions continuing to exert downward pressure on margins.
Amgen's pipeline showed promise, particularly from Repatha, EVENITY, TEZSPIRE, UPLIZNA, and IMDELLTRA/IMDYLLTRA. These strong performances helped mitigate the erosion caused by biosimilars in Prolia and XGEVA. Additionally, EU approval for IMDYLLTRA in ES-SCLC based on positive Phase 3 survival data represented a notable operational milestone.
