Amgen's Tarlatamab Scores Big Win in ES-SCLC Maintenance Therapy
Amgen's tarlatamab has achieved a significant milestone in its treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). The Phase III DeLLphi-305 trial demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival when added to durvalumab maintenance therapy.
The study enrolled 563 patients who had not progressed following induction with durvalumab, platinum-based chemotherapy, and etoposide. These patients were then randomized to receive either tarlatamab plus AstraZeneca's Imfinzi (durvalumab) or durvalumab alone.
The combination therapy resulted in a significant improvement in overall survival, progression-free survival, and objective response rate compared to durvalumab monotherapy. The safety profile of tarlatamab plus durvalumab was consistent with the known profiles of each agent individually, with no new or unexpected signals identified.
