Amil's owner, José Seripieri Filho, also known as Júnior, has ended talks to sell the health insurer to private equity firms Bain Capital and Advent. The decision came after months of stop-and-start negotiations.

The firms had previously expressed interest in buying Amil in 2023 when its parent company, UnitedHealth Group (UHG), put it up for sale. However, this time around, the sale talks ended with no deal due to disagreements over guarantees covering potential liabilities.

Amail's board of directors, which Seripieri chairs, issued a statement saying that they remain open to future proposals for minority investments provided their principles and values are preserved.
