ANA's Aging Boeing 777-300s Extend Service Life Until January 2027

All Nippon Airways' (ANA) Boeing 777-300s will remain in service until January 2027, longer than initially planned. The aircraft were scheduled to retire by March 31, 2027, but due to continued temporary operation, they will fly beyond October 24, 2026. ANA has deployed these high-density layout planes on domestic routes in Japan, with the majority operating from Tokyo Haneda.

The Boeing 777-300s are equipped with 514 seats, significantly more than the average capacity for this aircraft at other airlines. They have been used strategically to meet demand on busy domestic segments, such as Tokyo to Sapporo and Osaka. ANA has scheduled these planes to operate on routes like Tokyo Haneda (HND), Osaka Itami (ITM), Tokyo Haneda, Okinawa (OKA), and Tokyo Haneda, Sapporo New Chitose (CTS).

These Boeing 777-300s will continue to play a crucial role in ANA's domestic network until their eventual replacement by the Boeing 787-10. The 787-10, introduced in a domestic configuration in 2024, seats 429 passengers and offers improved fuel efficiency. This marks a significant change from the 777-300, which prioritized passenger capacity over range and premium-cabin density.
