Anderson Takes Helm at McDonald's US Amid Slowing Growth
McDonald's has appointed Skye Anderson as its new U.S. president, effective immediately. She will lead the company's efforts to win over cost-conscious diners in its largest market. Anderson is a 26-year veteran of McDonald's and was previously chief operating officer for McDonald's USA. In that role, she increased average restaurant unit cash flow by $100,000 and drove same-store sales growth of more than 30%.
Anderson succeeds Joe Erlinger, who has held the role for over six years. She will focus on accelerating performance and unlocking opportunities in the U.S. market. McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski expressed confidence in Anderson's ability to lead the company's U.S. business. 'I look forward to working closely with her and the U.S. leadership team,' he said.
The appointment comes as McDonald's reported its second-quarter results, which showed earnings exceeding Wall Street estimates but revenue falling short of expectations. Same-store sales grew just 0.8% in the U.S., and traffic to domestic restaurants fell during the quarter.
