Android Auto Speedometer Feature Spotted, Then Vanishes Again
Google Maps has been rolling out its speedometer feature to Android Auto users, but it appears to be doing so in fits and starts. The feature, which also shows speed limits, first appeared in July as part of a beta release for select users.
However, rather than expanding to the wider public, the feature seems to have vanished again - at least, for some users. Those on the beta release may still see it, but others are reporting that it has disappeared from their Android Auto interface.
This confusing situation has been playing out on Reddit, where users are sharing their experiences with the speedometer and speed limit features. Some are seeing them, while others are not - even among those who have been using the beta release.
It's worth noting that Google Maps already offers a speedometer in its app on your phone, as well as on Apple CarPlay. But until now, it has been missing from Android Auto, which is used by millions of drivers worldwide.
