Android Gets Smarter: Google Drops New Features

Google has announced its September Android drop, which includes five new features for Android devices. One of the notable features is Gemini, an AI-powered assistant that can help users remember where they put important items. With Gemini, users can ask their device to remember the location of items like passports or spare keys, and even add a photo to help them recall.

Motion Assist is another feature that aims to reduce motion sickness by displaying a bubble overlay on the screen that moves with the vehicle. This feature is designed to bridge the gap between what users see and the movement of their ride. It can be set to turn on automatically, added to Quick Settings, or customized for appearance.

Guided vision is another AI-powered feature that allows users to read fine print, identify objects, or order food in a low-lit restaurant by sharing their camera in Gemini Live. If the camera isn't lined up, voice feedback will guide users to reframe it, pan across a space, or center an object.

Google Keep grocery lists and notes can now be shared and updated directly within Google Messages. This allows multiple participants to view, edit, and add ideas to the note or list. Finally, users can customize each chat in Google Messages with different backgrounds and color themes.
