Android Integration Deepens as Google Play Services Update Brings New Features
Google has continued its push to integrate Android into its broader hardware ecosystem. The latest Google Play Services update (v26.32) offers a glimpse at this strategy, particularly in relation to upcoming Googlebooks laptops.
The setup wizard on PC hardware now includes dedicated prompts explaining the multi-device feature suite for Googlebooks, which allows for seamless phone-to-laptop features out of the box. Quick Start support is also being added, enabling users to set up a new desktop or laptop using an existing Android phone. Cross-device settings will let users toggle experimental beta features directly from their device menus.
Tap to Share has been expanded with support for links and location details, giving users more reasons to use the tap-to-share shortcut instead of navigating through usual sharing menus.
