Android Users Can Reclaim Storage Space with Built-In Tools
Goran, a tech enthusiast and writer for How-To Geek, has shared his experience of decluttering his Android phone's storage using built-in tools. He used to rely on third-party apps for cleaning up redundant files, but switched to using native features after returning to Android in 2014.
On his Pixel 10 Pro, Goran uses the Files app to free up space by deleting duplicate files, blurry photos, and unnecessary large files. The app also suggests ways to declutter storage quickly and efficiently. He freed up around 2GB of storage on his phone using this feature.
In addition to Files, Android's built-in file managers like My Files on Samsung Galaxy phones allow users to access the Trash folder, where deleted files are stored for 30 days before being permanently removed. Emptying the Trash folder can help free up storage space.
Google Photos is another tool that helps reclaim storage space by deleting locally stored photos and videos that have been backed up to the cloud. However, this feature may not be suitable for users who prefer to keep local access to their media files.
