Anthropic Deepens Nvidia Ties with $35 Billion Compute Deal
Anthropic's latest infrastructure deal is a $35 billion agreement with Lambda that secures 350 MW of capacity at the Hut 8 Beacon Point campus in Texas. This arrangement marks Anthropic's ninth major compute corridor and solidifies Nvidia's position as both supplier and landlord.
Nvidia holds the lease on the facility while also supplying GPUs to Lambda, allowing the company to capture value at both the real estate and silicon levels. This structure forces neocloud providers like Lambda to function as specialized intermediaries, absorbing operational complexity while Nvidia maintains control over the physical environment.
The compute landlord thesis is now the dominant operating model, with entities controlling physical data centers and GPU clusters positioning themselves to extract rent from software-centric labs. Anthropic's reliance on Nvidia's ecosystem deepens with this deal, creating a dependency that warrants close scrutiny as the company approaches its public debut.
