Anthropic Lands $10B Computing Power Deal with Nvidia-Backed Cloud Startup
Anthropic, an artificial intelligence lab, has agreed to spend $10 billion over six years on computing power from Volta Infra Holdings, a cloud startup backed by Nvidia. The deal spans six years and will deliver 133 megawatts of capacity from a site in Norway, utilizing Nvidia's latest Vera Rubin processors.
The Norway site will be supplied by Volta and its partner Bitdeer Technologies Group, a bitcoin-mining company that operates data centers. Neither Anthropic nor Bitdeer would comment on the deal, but people close to it confirmed that the buyer is indeed Anthropic.
This agreement marks another infrastructure bet for Anthropic, which has already made deals with SpaceX, AMD, and Akamai Technologies, and held talks about renting capacity inside Meta's data centers. The company raised $65 billion from investors earlier this year and is considering a U.S. stock-market debut as soon as this year.
