Anthropic Pursues $6 Billion Deal for Nvidia-Backed AI Startup Decart
Anthropic is reportedly in talks to acquire Nvidia-backed AI startup Decart for approximately $6 billion, according to Reuters. The deal would be Anthropic's largest acquisition to date and bring Decart's AI infrastructure and world-model technology into one of the industry's biggest developers of frontier models.
Decart's software makes it easier for AI developers to move workloads between different chips, reducing technical complexity and costs involved in switching hardware. This capability has attracted an unusual group of customers and investors, including Nvidia, which participated in Decart's latest funding round despite its technology making it easier to run AI workloads on competing processors.
The startup raised $300 million in May in a funding round led by Radical Ventures, bringing its total funding to over $450 million. The company said the investment would support three main product lines: DOS, its infrastructure platform; Lucy, a world model focused on immersive experiences; and Oasis, designed for physical AI applications.
