Apple Agrees to iPhone-Windows Clipboard Sharing Under EU Rules
Apple has agreed to implement clipboard sharing between iPhones and Windows PCs under European Union rules. Microsoft submitted an interoperability request on March 25, which Apple confirmed it would build upon on June 26.
The feature will allow users to grant one-time permission for each paired Windows PC before any clipboard content is shared. Apple has set a completion date of fall 2027, with a developer beta to arrive beforehand.
Microsoft argued that cross-device copy and paste is a fundamental productivity habit, and that the current restrictions on iPhone apps are a barrier to continuous background syncing between devices.
