Apple App Store Leader Phil Schiller Steps Down Ahead of Executive Transition
Apple's App Store leader Phil Schiller has announced his departure from both roles as part of an executive transition. The news comes just one day before John Ternus takes over as Apple's CEO, replacing Tim Cook.
Schiller will stay at Apple but shift to new initiatives as an Apple Fellow, having previously been in charge of the App Store and product events. He has played a crucial role in Apple's story for decades, helping launch key products like the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and multiple Mac models.
The App Store will now report directly to services chief Eddy Cue, who originally ran it before handing it over to Schiller in 2015. Carson Oliver will handle day-to-day decisions, while Nola Weinstein will oversee Apple's events team, including the upcoming September 9 product launch.
