Apple Brings Advanced Tech Production Back to America with Houston Manufacturing Center
Apple's latest move to expand its US manufacturing presence has brought advanced tech production back to America, thanks in part to President Trump's push for domestic manufacturing.
In a significant development, Apple has set up a 20,000-square-foot manufacturing center in Houston, Texas. The facility will not only produce Mac mini devices but also provide free training on advanced manufacturing techniques, including machine-learning-powered quality control and automation, to small and mid-sized businesses, workers, and students.
Apple's move is seen as a major step towards fulfilling President Trump's vision of bringing advanced technology manufacturing back to the US. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick hailed Apple's commitment, saying 'We needed Apple's commitment to build here in America, because they can uniquely, maybe, lead the charge for advanced manufacturing coming to America.'
While Apple has not committed to manufacturing iPhones in the US, it has expanded production in countries like India and Vietnam while increasing its presence in the American supply chain. The company's CEO Tim Cook is set to leave his role on September 1, with John Ternus taking over as CEO.
