Apple Commits $600 Billion to US Investments with New Houston Manufacturing Facility
Apple's CEO Tim Cook and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick celebrated the opening of Apple's new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston, Texas. The facility will produce Mac mini computers later this year.
The 20,000-square-foot center will provide free training to small and midsized businesses, workers, and students on advanced manufacturing techniques, including machine-learning-powered quality control and automation.
Cook said Apple has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the Houston facility. 'We're pleased to begin Mac mini production later this year,' he added.
Lutnick praised Apple's commitment to domestic manufacturing, saying, 'President Trump said we would bring advanced technology manufacturing back to America. Now the Mac mini will be made right here in Houston, Texas.'
Apple has committed $600 billion to U.S. investments over four years, including efforts to expand domestic production of chips and components.
